I struggled as a Project Manager

In the early days of my project management career, I found myself wrestling with the remnants of my technical engineering mindset. The habit of double-checking every tiny detail, and the desire to cross all the t's and dot all the i's were deeply ingrained.

While these qualities served me well as an Engineer, they proved to be a double-edged sword as I navigated my new responsibilities as a project manager.

Balancing the responsibilities of managing projects while still clinging to my technical roots became overwhelming. I came very close to a burnout.

The turning point came when I recognized the need to trust my team and grant them the autonomy to excel in their respective roles. It was a shift in mindset—from being deeply involved in the nitty-gritty details to focusing on facilitating collaboration, communication, and synergy within the team.

I quickly realized that project management wasn't just about overseeing tasks; it was about harnessing a diverse set of skills, trusting the expertise of my team, and empowering them to shine.

Delegating responsibilities, fostering open communication, and providing the space for innovation became crucial components of my leadership approach.
